long gone

It's been a very long time since I posted on this spot.  But hopefully, I'm turning over a new leaf and will try to post more often.

Helpful hint for the week:  Instead of using fabric softeners in your drier, take some aluminum foil and wade it up loosely.  Toss it in with your clothes.  Take out the static!  When it gets waded too tight from bouncing in the drier, put it in your aluminum recycle and start with a new ball.

Home again

Hi, I went to a quilt retreat for 3 days at a friend's house. Had a great time even though I didn't get as much done as I wanted. I always take too much to get finished with it all. We had a weiner roast in the creek bed (in spite of the mid January weather). And did some fossil hunting in the gravel bars on the creek. I thought I found a petrified fang or claw, but my husband tells me it's a beaver tooth. I like my identification better.

I'm thinking that I will start a free pattern periodically. These can be put into a quilt or to make smaller projects like table runners or such. These will either be 6" or 8". I'm open to suggestions for the size. I'm hoping it will look like an old scrap quilt. And hopefully, you can use up your scraps in the process too.

home again

Hi, we are home again. It seems that the attendance in Paducah was down. Maybe lots of concern over the hotel situation. The Executive Inn is condemned. We heard rumors of them demolishing it and building two new hotels and a marina. And we heard rumors of remodeling the old hotel. Don't know what the real story is, they just need to get going so that it doesn't continue to effect next years attendance.

The weather was beautiful the whole time except for Saturday when it rained most of the day. But it cleared off when we were loading out. Was thanful for that.

On a new front, I'm hoping to start a series of table runners here on this blog. It will be a free pattern download for you to use. I just have to get busy on making the first one now that things have slowed down around here a little.

the age of technology

Well, after over a month with the computer in the shop 6 times, I think may be able to use it again. Have had to reload all programs. Still can't get one printer loaded and my EQ6 program. Are computers really time savers? I doubt that.

warm again

Well, it took 8 days and ordering the wrong part to get a simple igniter replaced on the furnace. I can open up the sewing room now and start working again. The top to the next embroidered wallhanging, a grist mill, is finished and ready to be quilted. Check out my website (www.prairiesedgepatchworks.com) for the first two wallhangings, a windmill and a water pump.
